treatment for toenail fungus

Toenail Fungus (Onychomycosis)

Toenail fungus, also known as Onychomycosis, is a common fungal infection of the toenail. It grows beneath the nail, causing it to thicken and discolor. As the infection progresses, the toenail may become brittle and break or pull away from the toe. Toenail fungus is generally not painful, although if left untreated, the toenail tends to thicken and deform causing inflammation or infection of the skin around the nail. If that occurs, walking or even wearing shoes could become difficult.

Toenail fungus is common in wet, warm damp places like:

  • Public pools and showers.
  • Closed shoes.
  • Nail salons that reuse or do not sterilize instruments and basins between clients. This practice can inadvertently spread toenail fungus or fingernail fungus from one client to another.

Overall? Moist unsanitized conditions encourage toenail fungus growth.  If you have it, you are not alone!

Now, with the new FDA approved Nuvolase PinPointe FootLasertreatment, it is easy, quick and affordable to treat your fingernail or toenail fungus.

The FootLaser is specifically designed to treat toenail fungus, unlike the multi-use lasers found at many medical aesthetics spas. And unlike topical treatments or oral medications, the Nuvolase PinPointe FootLaser™ treatment has no side effects.

At Laser Nail Centers, we typically recommend treating all ten toenails (or fingernails) due to the contagious nature of Onychomycosis. It is the treatment recommendation that is generally the most effective and affordable over the long term. However, our doctors will make a recommendation for the treatment that's right for you during your initial consultation.

Unlike some treatment centers, we provide a complimentary initial consultation with specially trained doctors that will properly diagnose your condition. As physicians, our doctors have a full array of treatment options available.

Although health insurance does not cover laser treatment for toenail fungus because it is considered cosmetic, we do have several payment options available, so please call for details.
